The Art Institute of Chicago
More than 130 years after its founding, the Art Institute of Chicago ranks among the world’s great museums interpreting, conserving, and collecting works of art that inform and inspire visitors. With the opening of the Modern Wing in 2009, the Museum raised its public profile, leading Chicago’s museums in overall attendance. Today, the Art Institute welcomes a global audience to view and interact with its collection, attend programs and conduct original research.
Mobile site Considering the distinct needs of users who access the site from smartphones, we embraced mobile constraints and designed a theme for the mobile environment. While the mobile site's design and sitemap differ from the desktop site, they use the same Drupal CMS so that site administrators update content in one location.
Desktop site The desktop site allows for video and audio display and a set of administrative tools to relate content to events with ease Perhaps the greatest improvement to the site is the integration of social media feeds. The Art Institute is very active on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube and its blog. We designed an area for users to access this content with ease and not leave the site.
